Jeff Eaton

FOUNDER

Jeff Eaton, the founder of Hustle & Cultivate, grew up in Reading, PA. He earned a scholarship to Lock Haven University and was introduced to strength & conditioning. It was there where he found his true purpose, serving others through mental and physical strength. After graduating with a degree in Fitness Mgmt, he has made his way through the field of strength & conditioning, and now serves as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for the University of Miami Football Team. Jeff continues to serve his athletes, his colleagues, and the community with his passionate approach to mental health.

Eaton doesn’t take that work or those people for granted, not when he considers the journey that brought him to Miami and to this point in his life. It's a journey that has featured a lifelong struggle with anxiety and depression after losing his mother as a young child and then later, enduring the pain of both physical and sexual abuse. It is a journey that included running from his pain, seeking refuge in exercise and denying his need for a more substantial kind of help, even as friends urged him to seek it out, and it is a journey that nearly ended in 2008 when, in his off-campus apartment, Eaton – an all conference defensive lineman at Lock Haven University in his native Pennsylvania – attempted suicide.

Jeff's experiences has pushed him to embark on entrepreneurship, and being an advocate for mental health. As a result, Hustle & Cultivate was started.

OUR MISSION

To bring awareness, break barriers, eliminate all the stigmas surrounding the mental health of coaches, and all survivors around the world.  In the world of coaching, life can be very stressful.  There are early days, long nights, and more often than not, little time spent with family.  Although we understand this when we get into the field, it can be very hard to manage from a mental health standpoint.  In recent years, the amount of coaches that deal with depression, anxiety, stress, and other issues is alarming.

We must continue to provide safe spaces for those that struggle with depression, anxiety, and suicides, or suicide attempts.  The conversation must branch out into our homes, locker rooms, offices, and weight rooms.  We must create an environment where all coaches, athletes, friends and family can be vulnerable, open, honest, and comfortable speaking out!

We believe it's time for people to take control of their Mental Health and live the life that they've always wanted.

The Dream is Free, but the Hustle is Sold Separately!
